There are 5 classes offered ot Saul
Taxidermy & Tannery. They are deer shoulder mounts, waterfowl
and upland birds, turkeys, fish, and life-size animals. You can
schedule most of these classes around your work
schedule.
Books and videos help but the 1 on 1
classes are needed to learn how to properly mount wildlife. The
large taxidermy schools may have 20 or more students in each class
and you don't get the attention and guidance like
you
do on a 1 on 1 class. All classes
will be taught by an Ohio 1st place award winning taxidermist . All
mounts completed during the class are the students to keep for
their showroom.
The deer shoulder mount
class you will mount 3 whitetail or mule deer shoulder
mounts, do an antler mount, and deer feet. You will learn skinning,
fleshing, salting, tanning, tanning, stitching, mounting, and
finish work.
The waterfowl and upland
bird class you will mount 2 waterfowl and 1 upland bird.
You will learn skinning, defatting, skin preservation, mounting,
habitat creations and finish work.
The turkey class
you will mount 2 turkeys, one strutting and 1 roosting. You will
also do a fan mount. You will learn skinning, defatting, skin
preservation, freeze drying process, mounting and finish
work.
The lize-size class
you will mount 2 live-size animals of your choice. You will learn
skinning, fleshing, salting, preparation of cape for tanning,
tanning, stitching, mounting, habitat creations, and finish
work.
The fish class you
will mount 1 coldwater and 2 warmwater fish. You will learn
skinning, degreasing, mounting, and finish work.
All classes may be worked around
your schedule (i.e. weekends). Full payment will be required prior
to starting classes. A 10 % deposit is required to hold class
dates. Visa and Mastercard are accepted.
